Protaras Area

Protaras is a popular tourist destination located on the south-eastern coast of Cyprus. The town is situated on the edge of the stunning Cape Greco National Forest Park, and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches and bays in Cyprus. Here’s a closer look at the location, history, and sightseeing opportunities in Protaras.

Cape Greco National Forest Park

This protected nature reserve offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as hiking trails, caves, and rock formations.
There is also the Natural History Exhibition Centre which is well worth a visit before exploring the local flora and fauna.
Complete your day here by taking in the glorious sunset from the top of the Cavo Greco headland.

Ayia Napa Monastery

This 16th-century monastery is located just a short drive from Protaras and is one of the most important religious sites in Cyprus. It is close to the central clubbing area of Ayia Napa and provides a stark contrast between ancient and modern. There are regular buses from Protaras to Ayia Napa should you wish to further explore our neighbouring resort, which has risen from small fishing port to international clubbing centre over the last quarter of a century.

WaterWorld Waterpark

This ever-popular water park is located just outside Ayia Napa, a short drive from Protaras, and offers a variety of water slides and rides for visitors of all ages. The entertainment here is invigorating and spectacular… but you can always choose to simply float down the lazy river! Regular bus services take you right to the WaterWorld entrance from Protaras.

Protaras is in many ways the perfect holiday resort for singles, couples and families alike. The stunning beaches, warm, clear blue sea, the natural beauty, plus a wide range of attractions and sightseeing opportunities, make it the location of choice for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Protaras has all you could want, but is more laid back and less frenetic than the larger scale holiday resorts found across the Mediterranean region. We think you will like it as much as we do!
